AND HEROES
Underdogs (a few) - Daryl Dwight Davis: “Is an American R&B and blues musician and played with musicians such as Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bruce Hornsby and Bill Clinton. As an African American, he wanted to understand racism in the United States and through his conversations persuaded leading Ku Klux Klan members to quit the Klan, which led to its dissolution in Maryland.” Keanon Lowe: "Is an American track and field coach and former Oregon Ducks football player. He is known for preventing a school shooting and suicide of a student by disarming the student and then hugging him, which was captured on security footage. Wassili Alexandrovich Archipow: "Was an officer in the Soviet Navy, most recently a vice admiral. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he refused to approve the launch of a nuclear torpedo. In doing so, he possibly prevented a third world war.” Richard Davis: “Lived in Detroit, Michigan, the city was considered a tough place. As a pizza delivery man, he was shot in the leg while making one of his orders. After narrowly escaping with his life in the shooting, he decided to work on body armor against firearms and invented the bulletproof vest.” The goal of this visualization is for viewers to experience a turn toward underdogs. |
