BUNDI
SIE (SHE) is music with a visual approach to its audio in a world of images that searches and finds sounds. She is concerned with two questions. “What sky is beautiful enough for my perfect tear?” And: “What is reality?” Apparently she knows it in her bones but not in her head. She took her time, SIE aka Seven Noem worked on her debut album Audiogram for seven years. The audiogram - a graphic representation of how well a person's hearing can perceive spoken words and sounds in different frequencies, by the way - feeds reservations about external perception with a big "fuck off" attitude and makes it clear that you only know a little willingness to compromise. However, this album cannot really be assigned. That means that she uses a wide variety of genres and remains elusive. One would almost have to assume that such a wild texture would make an album look rather torn? It is all the more surprising how homogeneous this audiogram is. In fact, 80s fans will feel very at home, at least in the first third. However, melodic hooks, airy pads and an emphasis on the two with punch are features that run through the entire album. The uncompromisingly forward-looking 1980s vibe is broken up with a trap song called “Seven”. Lyrics like: “I’m so anti, I can’t connect” or “I’m too colorful and you’re too grey” reorient the album not only in terms of the genre change. She returns to her roots and opens up almost automatically. She continues this return quickly in the following song “Room 15”, although the trap milieu is modified by pop, before she lands another touch and go in the trap genre with “Red Wine”. A number in fragile glass Soundscape with a fragile basic tone in a country timbre. With “Black Smoke” a bulbous mood in pop dress and hip-hop spirit returns, groovy, light and funky, before she starts her last monologue with “Bears”, which can be interpreted in a socially critical way. Noticeably turned on by analogue haptics and its underlying charm, She remains edgy and emotional, plays lyrically with matches and yet there is no unexpected conflagration. She is a low-voice, straightforward and exclusively mumbo jumbo, completely modal and without outburst and yet regardless of the dramaturgy. You won't find a beginning or an end on the visual album with 8 tracks; rather, it is a self-contained concept album in continuous loop mode. Nonconformist, sensitive and polarizing.
